Hyderabad blasts live: Indian Mujahideen’s Yasin Bhatkal suspected


Two blasts rocked the crowded area of Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad today evening killing seven people and injuring many.
The explosions occurred near a bus stand and outside a cinema hall, IBN7 reported.
There has been no official confirmation as regards to the nature of the blasts. Dilsukhnagar witnessed similar blasts as well.
Police have cordoned off the area.

    "I have informed the prime minister that two blasts have occurred at Dilsukh Nagar in Hyderabad. Explosives were placed on cycles. Eight were dead in one spot, another three in the second spot. Information were in about the possible attack this morning as well. We have shared intelligence report with the state governments. IB team is already at the spot. Blasts occurred within a radius of 150 metres. It is possible death toll will rise. Can't talk about lapse right now. Blasts similar to Gokul Chat Centre blast in 2007."

    Unlike the 2007 blasts, when government quickly pointed fingers at Huji, LeT, this time the police has not jumped to any conclusion. Police says it had no intelligence information about any terror activity.

  • NSG team rushed to Hyderabad

    New Delhi: A team of forensic experts of NSG, the country's premier counter-terror force, was tonight flown to Hyderabad in the aftermath of the serial blasts that claimed at least 10 lives.

    The 'post-blasts' analysis team have been sent to Hyderabad, sources said, adding experts from the Chennai hub
    of the 'black cat' commandos force have also been rushed to the Andhra Pradesh capital.

    The NSG, which is also the key force for counter-hijack operations, operates the National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC) which has detail information about such acts in the country.

    The team will collect samples from the spot and analyse the 'trigger mechanism' used in the blasts, the sources added.

    Here's what one one of the eye-witness told CNN-IBN:

    I didn't see the time and suddenly there was a blast and lot of smoke a lot of glass shards fell on my head. Two blasts in dlishukh nagar chaurasta - 15 people died near Venkatdri theatre. Ananad tiffin centre near konark theatre - we took out 8 dead bodies on the spot evenbefore the ambulance came, then 4 dead bodies were lying there. In my count - at least 20 people have died.

  • Alert in West Bengal

    Kolkata: Alert has been sounded across West Bengal following the serial blasts in Hyderabad this evening, police said.

    "Security has been beefed up in various parts of West Bengal, including the bordering and coastal areas. We have sent a security alert in all the police stations of the state," ADG (Law and order) Banibrata Basu told PTI.

    The serial blasts in the Andhra capital has claimed nine lives and injured 32 others, official sources have said.

  • Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi appeals for calm

    Talking to CNN-IBN, Owaisi said that he has reports of two blasts. "These were very strong blasts. At least 15 are feared dead." He appealed to the people to maintain calm. "We should not allow miscreants to take charge."

    Owaisi further said that this should not be politicized. "Let's leave behind politics, this is an attack on our nation. We should not allow these terror elements to succeed."
